Beauregard, (Cooper, Pickett): Great Civil War telegram! Measures about 8" x 4". Dated from Petersburg VA May 6th, 1864. Signed by an aid to S. Cooper Adj Gen. to General Beauregard. At the time there was a fierce battle waging in the area between Richmond and Petersburg. Cooper is calling for the troops to be moved from the South to Petersburg, farther from the enemy. Signature at the bottom is" G. E. Pickett Maj Genl Comd" This looks like the telegraph was dictated to Pickett by Cooper and written by an aid. Also written in pencil across the end by Gen. Beauregard is ÒToo late as usual - G. T. B" This is a wonderful war dated piece that has three famous CSA Generals on it. Great piece to frame and display in an office.
