One page letter dated Oct. 21, 1852 and written and signed by C. M. Conrad, who was a Louisiana lawyer and statesmen; secretary of war under Fillmore (1850 ­ 53): Confederate Congressman and Louisiana Militia Brigadier General. Also served as CSA Chairman of the Commission of Naval Affairs while CSA Congressman. A key piece for a collector of naval items. Dear Sir, I am informed by the Spanish minister that the ÒCrescent CityÓ is advertised to return to Havana with Mr. Wm. Smith on board. Yours Very Truly C. M. Conrad Oct 21st. 1852
